My daughter was the "lucky one" that got to keep the silk worm cocoons! The teacher told her to take them home and put them in the freezer and in the spring, she was to take them out and thaw them. I hated looking at those cocoons in the freezer every time I opened it up. They thawed but never came to life. My daughter was heart broken.

Yes, they had silkworms in the classroom, and the box had little sections for each child with his or her worms. The last time I saw them, they were out of the cocoons in their moth form and stuck together in pairs.... I asked what the moths were doing, and he said they were laying eggs. Well, some already were, but most were working on their eggs, so to speak.

So much is being learned beneath the curriculum. I am glad to hear it is fun, though, despite the lying, cheating and stealing.
